LF-JF Designs is a home-based business dedicated to the production of one-of-a-kind handcrafted hats, purses and unique crochet accessories. LF-JF is owned and operated by the mother-daughter team of Lisa and Judith Ferguson. The business was developed out of a God-given love of sewing and as a way to spend quality time with one another.
Daughter Lisa Ferguson is the purse maker and crochets.
Mother Judith Ferguson is a master sewer and very creative in everything she does. She is the hat maker and crochets for LF-JF Designs.

What is your background in fashion?
My mother Judith, learned how to sew from her mother at 11 years old. She began to sketch and design wedding and prom dresses. Over the years she has made many beautiful dresses for many family and friends. After years of making dresses, she desired to make something new and different, and that is when she started making hats. I also learned to sew at an early age, as well learning for my mom. I began making clothes for myself. I started making purses after a visit to a fabric store. Some of the workers in the fabric store had made sample purses, and I went home and made a purse that night. The next day I sold that purse, and that is how it all began. We have been making hats and purses now for over 14 years.
How do you go about selecting materials for the latest collection?
We choose our fabrics in various ways. We look at the latest fashion trends to see colors for the season. We try to pick fabrics that will be good accessories with the colors of the season, and create our accessories with our own unique flair.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice we received was from the Bible which states in I Thessalonians 4: 11-12
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you. So that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
We find this Scripture encouraging, because we work with our hands to create beautiful pieces. And we give all glory to God for allowing us to be able to do what we love.
What’s your favorite piece or collection? Why do you consider it a treasure?
Our favorite piece is our new crochet circle jacket. We consider it a treasure because we made it by accident. We were in the process of making something totally different and we did not like it at all, and decided to just try something new, and it developed into this beautiful jacket. It has become one of our best sellers. We love it because it can be worn so many different ways and it can be made in any color. It is such a unique piece.
What do you like most about fall fashion?
Because our products are geared to fall fashion, we love the earth tone colors and rich fabrics that we can create to match the fall wardrobe. My mom loves making hats in all colors to accent a great wool coat that would just make a great statement piece. Since we started crocheting, we just have a field day creating new sweaters and scarves to accent any fall outfit.
If we entered your work studio what would we find?
We have buckets and bins filled with fabric and yarn. We love to shop for new fabrics and yarn, so we have a ton of it, semi-organized.
What is your biggest fashion pet peeve?
We love watching fashion trends, but our pet peeve is when people do not want to step outside that trend and be different.
