Sa’rayah from season 11 of “The Voice” returned to Chicago and performed her homecoming show at The DuSable Museum with the help of a few of her friends from the show.
Sa’Rayah made it to the top 12 and was eliminated after a sing-off with fellow contestant Aaron Gibson. The homecoming proved to be a celebration of a massive talent. Sa’Rayah’s daughter and parents were there to help welcome her back and as a testament to the friendships developed on the show, a few of the contestants made their way to Chicago as a show of support. Jason Warrior, who is also a Chicago native, gave a powerful and memorable performance as an opening act.
Sa’Rayah’s set was polished and professional. It is clear that “The Voice” is a training ground for artists. She never missed a beat and the show was electrifying.
Family and friends showed up to support this star in the making who started her journey as many do in the church. Sa’Rayah has been performing since the age of 5. At the age of 29, she has managed to craft her talent into something special. Her stage presence and command of the microphone can’t be denied. Her set opened with a video simulating travel through the stars and the universe with her voice serving as the backdrop. It alludes to the fact that this journey is one that continues to manifest itself. Sa’Rayah has her eyes set on changing the industry. “In a world filled with darkness, we must be the light we want to see,” she said
