The Chicago Sinfonietta hosted a stellar MLK concert preceded by a diversity networking reception at the Chicago Symphony Center. The diversity reception featured a number of highlights, including a keynote address from Dr. Walter E. Massey, an incredible performance from Chicago Youth Poet Laureate E’mon Lauren, and some insightful words on the importance of culture and diversity from AON’s Terrie-Lynne Devonish and Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Maurice White.
The concert highlights included the always brilliant Mei-Ann Chen conducting the Sinfonietta, alongside Project Inclusion conducting Freeman Fellow and assistant conductor for Chicago Sinfonietta, Kalena Bovell. The Chicago Sinfonietta’s Freeman Fellow program supports aspiring musicians and conductors as they pursue careers in the otherwise complicated world of classical music.
