This past week, news surfaced that legendary rapper Too Short was under investigation as a suspect in a rape case involving a reported mentee of his. Now, Short has finally responded to the accusations and controversy and is claiming that he is innocent.
According to reports, the woman accusing Short of rape is an alleged protégée of his whom he helped with music and videos. The woman, who is still unnamed, claimed that on Nov. 1, 2016, she was at an L.A. residence with Short when he sexually assaulted her. However, sources say that the woman reported the incident a month after it allegedly happened.
The woman told the police that she is a virgin and that despite her erotic videos she did not give consent to sex with anyone, no less Short.
At the time that the reports first began popping up, sources said that Short denied that he had anything to do with any alleged rape. Sources also said that the woman was previously signed to Short’s label but he fired her from her contract and she was retaliating by drumming up false rape accusations about him. The sources also claimed that the woman asked Short to give her a new deal after she accused him of raping her.
Well, this weekend, Short finally released a statement about the rape accusations and denied that he raped the woman. He also claims that the LAPD hasn’t even contacted him yet in relation to the alleged rape charges.
“Today, I read that I am being investigated for allegedly committing sexual assault. The allegations against me are completely false. Let me be clear, I have NEVER had nonconsensual sex with anyone, ever. I have directed my lawyers to vigorously combat these ridiculous claims. I have not been contacted by the LAPD about this matter and doubt I ever will be. If I am, I will direct my lawyers to fully cooperate and turn over 100’s of text messages and other evidence that will prove this woman is falsely accusing me. Thanks for your support,” Short said in the statement.
