Hoda Kotb reveals that balancing career and motherhood isn’t easy.
On Wednesday, the “Today” co-host caught up with “E! News” at the 2017 CMT Music Awards where she was scheduled to present alongside co-host and BFF Kathie Lee Gifford. She shared that spending time away from daughter Haley Joy has become increasingly difficult. “We went away for one night when we were in Bermuda for a shoot there, so this is my second time away,” the television host said.
“It is a little weird I have to say,” she added.
Gifford chimed in, “But you do get a good night’s sleep!” To which Kotb agreed, but not without an admission of guilt. “You finally sleep and it’s weird. I feel a little guilty saying that,” said Kotb.

As previously reported, the 52-year-old shared the news that she’d become a mother. A single mom, Kotb is dating a live-in boyfriend, Joel Schiffman. “I adopted her. She is a Valentine’s baby. She is a little nugget. She is the love of my life,” she said at the time.
“She is working on fumes and doing such an awesome job,” Gifford added at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. “We’re really proud of you, Hoda Mama.”
In case you missed it, though fans have seen glimpses of little Haley on social media, just last month, the 3-month-old made her television debut. Most recently, Kotb and Schiffman marked their anniversary by spending some quality time with their baby girl at the beach.
“Joel and I celebrated four years,” Hoda told “E! News”. “Life flies by. It’s so funny because you spend so much of your life wondering, ‘When is it going to happen?’ If ever. Sometimes in my life, I thought it was already happening—like the most that could ever happen was happening. I was happy and grateful, and then this happened.” She concluded, “It just reminded me that work is work, and life is life.”
