All Eyez On Me, the biopic about legendary rapper Tupac Shakur was released officially on his birthday to much fanfare and nostalgia. Chicago hosted a screening of the film the day before the official release. The Showplace Icon was filled with Tupac fans waiting to see the film’s depiction of the rapper many consider to be the best ever.
The film’s producer, L.T. Hutton, was In the building with many of his family members to share in the celebration of the release. Hutton described the film as a cautionary tale while speaking with the audience after the screening. “This film is edutaiment, it feels good to bring home a movie of this quality about an iconic figure. We got it done and it shows that anything is possible. We are trying to break records with this so we can make more and more. Like I said before I’m from Chicago, ya dig!” he said.
On the night of the official release theaters across the country were sold out and reviews have been mixed. One thing that stands is that Hutton and Benny Boom were able to deliver a solid project to the world about Tupac. We look forward to seeing more.
