The story of a racist college student who used menstrual blood and fecal matter to torture her Black roommate caused outrage this week. Brianna Brochu confessed on Instagram that she systemically poisoned and infected her roommate Chennel “Jazzy” Rowe at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. As a result, Brochu was arrested and expelled from the college for her filthy deeds.
For her actions, Brochu originally faced a possibility of 6-12 months of jail time and had a bail of $1K. But for many readers of the story, it was not enough. On the rolling out Facebook page posts by readers ranged from she needed a certified “a– whipping” to a lawsuit to punish her financially for her actions. Most readers agreed that sic6 months in jail was not sufficient punishment for her nasty actions. Since Brochu would be a first-time offender, her misdemeanor charges of third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of the peace would more than likely result in a community service plea deal.
However, since her story went viral, the West Hartford Police Department apparently agree with the public and plan to upgrade her charges. On Wednesday, the police requested that the charges of intimidation based on bigotry or bias be added to Brochu’s breach of peace and criminal mischief case. In addition, assistant state’s attorney Carl Ajello had her case transferred from Hartford Community Court to the Hartford Superior Court with a court date of Nov. 15, 2017.
Brochu’s downfall came after an Instagram post in which she wrote “Finally did it yo girl got rid of her roommate!! After 1 ½ month of spitting in her coconut oil, putting moldy clam dip in her lotions … putting her toothbrush places where the sun doesn’t shine, and so much more I can finally say goodbye [to] Jamaican Barbie.”
Brochu admitted to police that she licked her former roommate’s plate, fork and spoon and did, in fact, rub a bloody used tampon on Rowe’s belongings. But she told police that “anything else she bragged about on social media was a lie in an attempt to appear funny.”
Well, now the joke’s on her because she has likely ruined her chances for continuing her college education at a reputable school because of her nasty, racist deeds.
