Stevie J has suffered through endless scandals ever since he popped back up on the celebrity radar years ago thanks to “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. And although most of his scandals result from problems with the many ladies in his life, this time around Stevie’s high-profile legal drama is costing him his freedom as it was revealed this month that he’s going to jail for not paying down his massive million-dollar child support debt. Now, Stevie is claiming that his child-support drama is nothing more than an attempt to extort him for money.
As previously reported, Stevie J has been in and out of the courts for years over accusations that he owes $1.3 million in child support and he’s currently in arrears with his latest ex, Joseline Hernandez, over their infant daughter, Bonnie Bella. In February 2017, Stevie pleaded guilty to failure to pay child support and he was ordered to pay $1,304,835.86. Stevie was also placed on three years probation.
However, reports have revealed that Stevie was recently sentenced to prison for failure to pay his debt and he’s been ordered to turn himself in on April 10.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Stevie claimed that he’s the victim of extortion and he says the charges are bogus because he’s put several of his kids on two VH1 shows.
“One thing for sure you can say about me is that I’m always around my kids, I’m always doing great things for my kids. My kids are on two shows on VH1 and one’s in question. They’re getting great checks from Viacom, two different shows,” Stevie said.
He continued, “They live with me and I’m there all the time. One of them is a great basketball player at Rider University and the other one is just a spoiled singer-slash-television star. I love my children with all my heart and I have no problem with taking care of my kids but I have a problem with trying to be extorted and ran amok on [sic] but we’ll handle it.”
