Embattled singer-songwriter R. Kelly is now under investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, the media has reported.

The outrage has been so intense, and the calls have come in at such a high rate during and after the airing of the ratings-busting Lifetime documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” that the district attorney could no longer ignore the alleged wide-ranging sex scandal.

Sources told TMZ reported that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, headed by longtime District Attorney Paul Howard, has opened an investigation into allegations made against the singer based on the material presented in “Surviving R. Kelly.”

This will be welcome news to scores of alleged victims and their families, activists and celebrities.

For example, Girls Trip and Set it Off actress Jada Pinkett Smith openly wondered how the “Step in the Name of Love” singer could not only get away with abusing scores of young women for so long but also that sales of his music could increase significantly after watching the documentary.

Another celeb, “Shark Tank” star Daymond John, pleaded with Kelly to turn himself in, admit to the crimes he’s accused of, then go to prison and terminate himself.

The documentary was a heartwrenching probe into the alleged serial sexual improprieties of Robert Sylvester Kelly, 51, that was recounted by a number of alleged R. Kelly victims. Multiple media outlets, including rolling out, have reported on the existence of so-called “sex harems” that R. Kelly has in his houses in Chicago hometown and suburban Atlanta, his current residence.

The Fulton DA has dispatched investigators from that office to track down the participants in the six-part documentary that ran over three days, Jan. 3-5, 2019. One of the people that investigators have reached, TMZ has confirmed, is Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home after enduring physical and sexual abuse for an extended period of time.

Joycelyn Savage’s family was also contacted by Chief Investigator Cynthia Nwokocha. The publication added that Savage has been cooperating. Investigators are said to be requesting anyone with direct or indirect information about what allegedly took place in R. Kelly’s home to contact the Fulton County DA.
