Former “Growing Up Hip Hop” star Reginae Carter is crashing emotionally from her highly publicized breakup with rap star YFN Lucci.
Carter gave clues that something was wrong in her relationship with YFN Lucci toward the end of January when she tweeted how she hates “friendly” men. During Super Bowl weekend in Atlanta, she shared a post on her Instagram that read, “let him go, keep yourself,” before adding, “I will do exactly that.” Furthermore,
Carter and Lucci made separate appearances at Super Bowl parties.
Carter, 20, the daughter of rap royalty Lil Wayne and entrepreneur and author Toya Wright, has spilled the contents of her broken heart online continuously as of late. Carter’s Twitter timeline is littered with subtweets to Lucci and dramatic retweets about a person who hurt her deeply. Without mentioning him directly, Carter seems to say that Lucci, 27, never truly “cared” for her.
Carter had posted, then deleted this thought on Twitter: “Whoever played with my heart … u a dumb mf .” She also posted and deleted this line: “I don’t think u n—-s ever grow up tbh.”
Lucci seemed to cryptically corroborate the breakup when he recently posted on his IG page: “LOVE is just a word it don’t matter to me.”
As of press time, neither Carter nor Lucci has publically commented on their breakup. Carter deleted all the photos of her and Lucci off her Instagram page. Lucci still has a photo up of the two attending a Gatsby-themed birthday party last month.
Many saw this one coming. In a recent episode of “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle,” Carter told her mother that they decided to “cool it down” so she could focus on her burgeoning acting career.
“We were kind of going through something and the world [had] seen it on social media,” she said in the clip. “So, it was a lot going on that’s why I barely could talk about this right now. But I gotta zip it on up, ’cause I have to go on set and I have to work and do what I love and do what’s going to make me my coins.”
