5 must-see movies to close out 2019

As the weather begins to cool, a new slate of movies is scheduled to hit theaters. Ranging from adventure to comedy to drama, the fall movie schedule will keep audiences warm. Here are five must-see movies we can’t wait to see to close out 2019.

Harriet

The extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes.

Waves

Waves traces the journey of a suburban African-American family. With a well-intentioned, but domineering father to lead them, they navigate love and forgiveness after a loss.

Stars: Sterling K. Brown, Taylor Russell, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Alexa Demie, Bill Wise

Waves opens in theaters Nov. 15

 

 

Queen & Slim

While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man and a black woman, are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense.

In fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country.

Jumanji: The Next Level

The team of friends return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own but discover that nothing is as they expected. The players must brave parts unknown in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.

Uncut Gems

Howard Ratner is a New York City jewelry store owner. When merchandise is taken from his top sellers and girlfriend, he must find a way to pay his debts.
