Why is it important for the BOSS Network to honor Tina Knowles?
The BOSS Network has always been a brand that focuses on women and business. It’s not celebrities, it’s the woman behind the business. If it is a celebrity, it’s about focusing on her business aspect and not the entertainment aspect. A lot of people know Tina Knowles Lawson as Beyoncé’s mom, but they don’t know that she has multiple businesses and is a serial entrepreneur. … So we wanted to showcase her in a different light.
What do you hope that women take away from the conference?
We want women to walk away understanding that if you have a vision, trust your vision, move forward in it and be confident in it. You have to get the tools necessary and the mentors necessary so that you can make sure that you’re going to be successful on that journey.
The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, 17 E. Monroe in Chicago.
