How does it feel to introduce a new generation of hip-hop culture to Ol’ Dirty Bastard through your performance?
This feeling is another level for me. This is the last place I projected myself being successful. I never would’ve seen me being ODB in a Wu-Tang clan series ever. For all this to happen, it is an amazing experience, and I am honored.
Were there any challenges in playing the role?
The whole character was really challenging for me, especially learning his mannerisms. I feel like we all have an inner ODB, the “I don’t give a f—” type attitude. So I wanted to approach the character with no limits.
What was most fun about the experience?
Seeing Wu-Tang Clan perform on stage, going to the shows, experiencing the energy
firsthand. Also learning the character and recreating a monumental time in hip-hop.
What is the one thing you learned about Ol’ Dirty Bastard during the process?
I learned that he was the same man on or off, no filters, no gimmicks. That spoke a lot [about] how people viewed him and how his music left an everlasting presence.
