Chef Jernard Wells transformed business to produce sanitizer during pandemic

What did it take to retrofit a production facility and how did you make that determination?

It was a pretty easy turn for us because we already had a lot of relationships with other manufacturing companies. As far as the bottling company that we’ve been dealing with for the past 10 years, we had a great relationship with them, in getting the sanitizing bottles. The crazy thing was the moment that other companies got the same idea to start creating something to meet this demand, it became a bidding war on who was getting bottles.

One of the things I always tell people is it’s not always about what you know, but who you know. It’s good to make friends and have great relationships with the sales reps because they showed us the common courtesy of giving us the first option. [There were] a lot of bigger companies that we’re ordering from the same companies and pulling all the inventory out.
