Lawyer for alleged Nipsey Hussle shooter says client had mental health problems

Holder was present for his court appearance but did not appear before the judge because Jansen wanted Holder’s handcuffs removed before television cameras could record.

“I did not want him portrayed in a way that would be prejudicial to him. He’s in good spirits. He wants me to send him some books. He’s so isolated [in custody]. He doesn’t get out of his cell much, only one day a week for a few hours to play basketball alone,” he further told the New York Daily News.

Judge Clay Jacke stated she needed more time to consider the handcuff removal request. In April, Holder asked to have his $6.5 million bail reduced. That request was denied.

Holder could face life in prison if convicted.
