The Mayor of East Point, Georgia, Deana Holiday Ingraham and Councilmember Sharon Shropshire, brought back the “Wind down Wednesday” free concert series for the first time since 2019 at East Point Commons on July 29, 2021.

The three acts included were the Youngbloodz (who brought out the East Side Boyz), Pastor Troy and the Goodie Mob. Although Lil Jon wasn’t present, the group held it down and their explosive performance kept the crowd of thousands of people crunk.

Sean Paul of the Youngbloodz opened up the show with a special plea to the audience: “I’m going to address something while we are here. It’s too much killing going on in these streets. We need to get back to the old Atlanta. We used to be players and do our thang. It’s too much. Can we please stop all the violence and killing in the streets of Atlanta and get back to creating fun like we did when things first started? There’s definitely too many lives being lost over senseless crimes.”

The audience cheered in agreement. Pastor Troy was up next stepping to the stage with his infamous wrestling belt. Of course, Pastor Troy couldn’t contain his energy on stage and had to go out in the crowd to connect with fans that were all the way turned up.

The mayor definitely let it be known that she was a Goodie Mob fan, a CeeLo Green fan and a dancing machine. The crowd also learned she could rap, as she dropped about nine bars for the audience. Greg Street of V-103 and Q Parker from 112 were the hosts of the evening, but when Q spotted Rico Wade in the audience, he and Street admited it would only be fitting for Wade to announce and introduce the headliner “Goodie Mob” to close the night out.

CeeLo Green, Khujo Goodie, T-Mo and Big Gipp came out as energized as ever. Big Gipp paid homage to the fans for their constant support and took everyone down memory lane. While there, he acknowledged Greg Street as the first to play the entire Goodie Mob album all day on V-103 when the station wasn’t even playing rap music yet.

The group also encouraged the crowd to download its latest project, Survival Kit, which dropped Nov. 2020. This was an amazing Wednesday night in East Point that truly changed the definition of Winddown Wednesday.
