Beloved singer and actress Jill Scott has landed another juicy acting role as an angel in the upcoming “Highway to Heaven” film.
Lifetime released the trailer to the reboot series that was enormously popular in the 1980s and starred the late great Michael Landon as the angel.
In one scene in the current movie, Scott’s character, appropriately named Angela, tells a troubled teen that she understands and can help him.
“I am not like anybody else,” Angela tells Cody (played by Ben Daon), a troubled boy who is bitter and resentful about his mother’s recent death. “I’m an angel. I can see and do things that other people can’t do.” The skeptical kid asks, “What are you talking about?”
After Angela performs a miracle, they embrace one another.
In another scene, Angela works alongside Principal Bruce Banks and eventually reveals her Big Secret to him. It draws an initial laugh, of course, but she eventually tells him, “My boss has such big plans for you.”
The first movie installment of the “Highway to Heaven” series is produced by Rain Productions and Propagate with the three-time Grammy-winner Scott serving as executive producer. Other executive producers include Jonathan Baruch, Rob Wolken, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Gregory Lipstone, Rodney Ferrell, Howard Braunstein, Cathryn Humphris, Shawn Gee, Cindy Landon and Wayne Lepoff.’
“Highway to Heaven” is slated to premiere on Nov. 6. Check out the trailer below.
