What are your thoughts on the way women are treated in the industry?
Women are most times underrepresented and undervalued. All the women I’ve met in this industry have worked twice as hard to get there.
How has social media helped you on this journey?
It has definitely helped me in my career. It’s a tech-driven world, so you have to adapt or get left behind. I’ve met a lot of other artists and connected with fans through social media. It’s also a way to find inspiration, sort of like a digital art gallery.
What has been the most challenging moment of your career?
I would say my most challenging moment was when COVID hit. I had just signed with Warner Records and I was set to release my first project mid 2020. Everything shut down before it began. It was a long struggle of self-belief, determination to not stop working and keeping my team excited for this release for a year. I got so close to something I was looking forward to for so long and not knowing when it was going to be possible for me again was heavy. I’ve never been a patient person, so I buried myself in my project every day making it better. I’m happy I did because it transformed into something even more complex and something I’m very proud of.
