Client demands refund from small business upon learning the owner is Black

“If, I don’t receive a refund I will be filing a dispute with my bank and going on social media and letting my large following know you are refusing to give me my money back,” the email, sent on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, read. “Also, happy holiday isn’t it your people holiday today?”

Tiesha said she was confused how the client didn’t know she was Black because her face is all over her social media page and on the bio page of her company’s website.


“I’m just disgusted in how they thought they ate in this email,” Tiesha said. “Like, seriously?”
