Doja Cat has lost hundreds of thousands of followers after sharing thoughts recently about her fan base on Threads. According to CNN, the music star was upset some fans were using her full name, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, as their username.
The topic of Doja Cat’s fan base name also came up. The name many of the fans ran with was Kittenz because it was the name that won in a 2020 poll Doja Cat posted on Twitter.
“My fans don’t name themselves s—,” Doja Cat posted on Threads. “If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f—ing ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
“Only using the name YOU gave your fans,” ayylien.t replied on Threads.
“When I was an alcoholic teen,” Doja Cat, 27, replied.
One fan account said they didn’t want any of Doja Cat’s social media antics.
“I wanna hear you say (I do love you guys) As usual you say to your fans,” doja.cat.iran commented.
“I don’t, though,” Doja Cat responded, “cuz I don’t even know yall.”
The comments from Doja Cat resulted in her losing 237,000 Instagram followers in 24 hours. The superstar artist still has 26 million followers on the platform.
The “Tia Tamera” artist has had a few public confrontations with her fans over social media. When one user called out her rumored boyfriend for manipulating and emotionally abusing members of his Twitch community.
“I want yall to read this comment and take it as a message,” Doja Cat commented. “I don’t give a f— what you think about my personal life I never have and never will give a f— what you think about me or my personal life. Goodbye and good riddance, miserable h—, haha!”
Doja Cat is scheduled to begin her arena tour on Oct. 31 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Doechii and Ice Spice are expected to join her on select dates.
