Kodak Black got a little good news and bad news on Friday, Feb. 9.
The good news is that his recent drug possession charges in Florida has been dropped. As for the bad news … well those dropped charges won’t be enough to get the “Super Gremlin” rapper released from federal custody at the moment.
The Associated Press reports that Judge Barbara Duffy dismissed the charges telling the prosecution that they thus far haven’t proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Kodak didn’t have a prescription for oxycodone.
Kodak’s arrest at the time violated his bond agreement for a separate case and got him sent to federal prison. The rapper’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has been working to get that previous tampering charged dismissed as well which will in turn secure the rapper’s freedom.
On Dec. 7, the rapper born Bill Kapri was charged with cocaine possession and tampering with evidence in addition to being improperly parked after officers approached his Bentley sitting on an active roadway. Officers reported smelling liquor and finding white powder and cannabis residue in a subsequent search of the vehicle and claim Kodak’s mouth was full of white powder.
Four days later, the “No Flockin'” artist took to Instagram Live to tell his side of the arrest incident and setting the record straight on his drug usage.
“I was on the lean, homie. I was asleep in front of my family house, bro,” Kodak contended. “That’s it. That ain’t illegal.”
After calling the arrest “bogus” and relating he didn’t like the way his mugshot was “plastered all over the internet,” he then addressed the cocaine allegations emphatically denying he uses the drug stating plainly, “Man, I ain’t on that s—.”
“I’ll tell God himself I do percs and s— like that, but them was my medicine prescribed to me,” he noted referencing being prescribed the drug after being shot in February 2022. “Even before I got shot and I had got prescribed them again, I could say that I had started damn abusing [them].”
Kodak Black has also been vocal about his commitment to getting clean stating thus far he’s spent well over six figures enrolling in various rehab programs.
