Kount Up is giving back to the place where it all started.

The artist, trainer, motivational speaker, and author handed out the annual iThink Vicky Bostick Memorial Scholarship at a program with high school students present in Atlanta. iThink is the company Bostick, Kount Up’s mother, worked at before tragically becoming the victim of a fatal car accident in August 2021 on the way back to Atlanta with her husband, Damien, for the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary. Damien survived the accident and eventually rehabilitated his way back to walking after multiple surgeries.

At the beginning of his speech at the program on April 16, Kount Up told his father to stand to be acknowledged by the audience. He then played the famous clip from 12 Steps, in which Cuba Gooding Jr.‘s character takes 12 steps to prove he has the ability to walk again. Kount Up explained that’s why he had his father stand after describing the life-changing accident.

Kount Up then related the clip to life and how challenges will come but that you should keep pushing through them all to reach your goals. He told the students to remember to always serve others, like how the greeters or food servers at the event served all of the attendees. Kount Up instilled in the students the importance of perception and keeping a positive mindset.

Later in the night, he presented the third annual scholarship to a senior at Marietta High School, Kount Up’s alma mater. After the event, while holding a framed photo of his mother, Kount Up signed and sold copies of his book, Halfway to Halftime.
