Lil Reese was slapped with a five-year prison sentence that stems from felony assault of a family member.
The 31-year-old Chicago rapper, born Tavares Lamont Taylor, was handed the aggravated assault sentence in Harris County, Texas, on Oct. 16. Media reports only began reporting his arrest around Christmas, however.
The conviction stems from an incident on March 9, 2022, though specific details have not been divulged to the media. Reese eluded authorities for two months but was arrested in May 2022 and held on a $60,000 bond.
Reese has a projected release date of Feb. 6, 2029, but will be eligible for parole in August 2026.
The rapper was also reportedly in trouble in September 2023, when he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend at a Houston strip club. According to authorities, Reese attempted to kiss the woman multiple times around 6:30 a.m.
When she refused his advances, he allegedly lost it. He allegedly punched and choked her, with witnesses claiming that she was reportedly “gasping for air” and fearing for her life before witnesses broke up the melee.
Reese was arrested on Sept. 29 and held without bond.
