‘Shmoney Dance’ rapper Bobby Shmurda arrested in sting operation

Law enforcement authorities in New York have announced the arrest of rapper Bobby Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Jean Pollard, in a drug sting operation. Shmurda was arrested Dec. 17 at the infamous Quad Recording Studios, site of the 1994 Tupac shooting.

He is being held at the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn and is scheduled to be arraigned on multiple charges Thursday morning. When NYPD police arrested Shmurda they discovered three guns during a search of a vehicle and the studio. Police also arrested several unnamed associates and recovered an additional 16 guns among the group. According to the police, Shmurda has been tied to several gang-related shootings, drug distribution and other acts of violence.


Shmurda was signed by Epic Records after the release of his videos “Hot N—-” and the catchy ”Shmoney Dance,” which went viral with over drew over seven million views and had superstars like Rihanna mimicking the dance steps to the catchy hook.
