Chief Keef cries after receiving 60 day sentence
Chicago rapper Chief Keef burst into tears today after receiving a two-month jail sentence stemming from a probation violation. According to DNAInfo Chicago, who was present at the time, tears rolled down the adolescent rapper’s face after he was sentenced to 60 days in jail. “I beg you please,” Chief Keef told Juvenile Court Judge Carl Anthony Walker. “Give me one more chance to show you. .. I am a very good hearted person. I have not picked up any more cases… That’s not my life anymore.”
DNAInfo reports however that prosecutors pointed towards violent lyrics in Keef’s songs as proof that he had in fact not changed. In particular prosecutors pointed out the lyrics in his current hit “Love Sosa” as proof of his unrepentant ways. “Love Sosa” lyrics were read aloud in court.
As previously reported Keef was arrested in part because of a Pitchfork.com video that showed the rapper being interviewed while holding a rifle at a gun range. His use of the weapon proved a “clear disregard for the court’s authority” argued prosecutors.
Keef real name, Keith Cozart, also recently lost his step brother Ulysses “Chris” Gissendanner III, 19, who was fatally shot in the back of the head.
Several have people reacted online to news of the rapper’s sentencing including actress Jackée Harry and parody accounts for Will Ferrell and Katt Williams. See what Twitter has to say about Chief Keef’s sentencing below. -danielle canada
