Despite earlier reports that rapper DMX, who was recently released from an Arizona prison, would not be starring in his own reality show, the rapper’s publicist has now come forward to refute the claims and explained that DMX will indeed have his show.
On July 29, DMX’s longtime friend and publicist, Pam Pinnock, released a statement to AllHipHop regarding the reports that she’d initially denied claims of DMX reality show.
“For the record I never stated there was not a reality show and I did not state there’s a disgruntled ex-girlfriend making these false reports,” said Pinnock. “This has been a very exhausting week. I have received over a thousand emails with request for X. There has been so much miscommunications surrounding press releases, reality shows, who X’s publicist is and who actually holds title as his manager. This is partly due to [the fact that] so many people want to be involved with X because they love and respect him so much. While X was in prison, many fans as well as professionals reached out to him and offered their services.”
Pinnock explained that prior to DMX’s prison release, the rapper had agreed to work with various professionals with whom she was previously unaware of. Last week, DMX asked Pinnock to release a statement promoting the upcoming reality show.
“X called me a few days ago and confirmed he had agreed to work with a select few and asked that I work in conjunction with these individuals. Last night, he called me again and requested that I clear up the rumors circulating that there is no reality show,” said Pinnock.
“‘Yes, I am doing a reality show.’ ” Pinnock said DMX stated.
Pinnock also shares that the troubled rapper is reconfiguring his inner circle as he prepares his attempt at a comeback.
“The fact that there is indeed a reality show in the works,” Pinnock clarified. “[DMX has made a] decision to take a step back and re-evaluate who’s phony and who’s fake in the DMX compound. In the coming weeks DMX will make an official announcement as to who stays and who goes as he makes his rounds in the hip-hop community and we can all watch as the king of hip-hop reclaims his crown.”
There’s no word yet on the format or name of the reality show or when it will premiere but we’re expecting it to be eye-opening, drama-filled entertainment. –nicholas robinson
