The Home Depot reveals top winners for 2014 ‘Retool Your School’ program

The Home Depot recently revealed the top winners for the 2014 “Retool Your School” program. Knoxville College was awarded a $50,000 Tier 1 Grant and Howard University, Morris Brown College and Oakwood University were each awarded a $25,000 Campus Pride Grant.

Also, 13 other HBCU schools were awarded $10,000 for school improvements. A total of 58 HBCUs competed for $255,000 in grants.


Several prominent HBCU alumnus and alumna served as judges for the competition. Laz Alonso (Howard University); Angela Burt-Murray (Hampton University); Munson Steed (Morehouse College); and Gregory Moore (commissioner of SIAC), all reviewed each qualifying school.
