FGI-Atlanta collaborates with SCAD-Atlanta for a private viewing of Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution
The Atlanta chapter of Fashion Group International collaborated with SCAD-Atlanta to present a private viewing of Versailles ’73: American Runway Revolution on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
Based on the epic battle between French haute couture designers and American ready-to-wear designers, the fashion documentary provided a detail account about American designers Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta and Halston journey to become household names on the European fashion scene.
Immediately following the film, Stephanie Davis Smith, editor-in-chief of The Atlantan, moderated an intimate Q&A session with Versailles ’73 producer and executive director, Deborah Riley Draper and American Designer Stephen Burrows. Audience members gained invaluable insight from Draper and Burrows about the significance of the documentary and the changes America’s fashion industry has experienced over the past years.
Next month, FGI-Atlanta will host an exclusive evening of networking and viewing of The South’s Next Wave: Design Challenge.
