Rush Limbaugh Mocks Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” Performance
Rush Limbaugh has become the first pundit to respond to Jay-Z’s performance at a Barack Obama fundraiser. As previously reported, Jay joined Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen at a final campaign rally where he performed his hit 99 problems and switched the lyrics to coincide with the 2012 election. “If you’re having world problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but Mitt ain’t one!,” rapped Jay.
Apparently the gesture didn’t go over too well with conservative radio host Limbaugh who took it upon himself to comment during his November 6 program. “Jay-Z, a noted rap figure in American pop culture, a noted Obama bundler and fundraiser and supporter, performed live with Obama who is the President of the United States at a campaign event in Columbus, Ohio yesterday,” said Limbaugh. “Now remember it is Obama and the Democrats who claim that it is the Republicans who are conducting a war on women. So here’s Mr. Z—who I think the most often used lyrics is ‘h–‘ and ‘b–0’—is performing for the President of the United States and his supporters at a half-filled arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Limbaugh then recited an unedited line from the track; “I got the rap patrol on the gat patrol, foes that want to make sure my casket’s closed,” rapped Limabugh. “Rap critics that say he’s ‘Money Cash Hoes.’ I’m from the hood, stupid. What type of facts are those?’ That’s at a campaign event rally for the President of the United States.”
To be fair, Jigga did mention that his “99 Problems” performance was impromptu and warned that he could be cut short by Secret Service for it. “I didn’t get clearance from the Secret Service, so if they come tackle me, ya’ll save me,” said Jay to a packed Ohio crowd. “I didn’t get that vetted, so let’s do that real fast before they come snatch me off this stage!”
It should also be noted that Jay and Limbaugh previously bumped heads in the past. On the rapper’s track “Off That” from the Blueprint III album he rapped; “This ain’t black vs. white, my n—we off that / Please tell Bill O’Reilly to fall back / Tell Rush Limbaugh to get off my b—/ It’s 2010, not 1864.”
