Coco Gauff defeats former Grand Slam champion at 2023 US Open

 Teenage tennis superstar Coco Gauff continued her superb play by defeating 2018 Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2023 US Open Sunday afternoon in a day that saw two other Black players advance to the quarterfinals.

Another comeback for Coco Gauff at the 2023 US Open

For the second time in three matches at the 2023 US Open, teenaged tennis superstar Coco Gauff lost the first set of the 2023 US Open. And for the second time, Gauff, who wore a bright neon green outfit that matched her New Balance sneakers, came back to win the final two sets to advance, this time over Belgian Elise Mertens 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 in front of stars like Jimmy Butler, Justin Bieber, and his wife Hailey Bieber.

Coco Gauff wins in singles and doubles at the US Open

It was a busy day for teenage tennis sensation Coco Gauff, as the 19-year-old took the court on the third annual HBCU Live at the US Open yesterday. The 19-year-old Gauff headlined the first match shortly after noon in Arthur Ashe Stadium and faced an opponent younger than her in 16-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva, who appears to have a bright future by the way she competed against Gauff. But Gauff, ranked #6 in the tournament, was undeterred, willing 6-3, 6-2.

Venus Williams eliminated by qualifier in 1st round of US Open

Venus Ebony Starr Williams stepped on the tennis court of Arthur Ashe Stadium for the 100th singles match of her career at the US Open with stars like actress, hip-hop artist, and singer Queen Latifah, NBA player Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, and four-time Grammy Award-winning singer Seal. She then put on, by the numbers, her worst performance of those 100 matches, which included two US Open championships.

Coco Gauff victorious on the 1st day of 2023 US Open

Teenage tennis superstar Coco Gauff shook off a slow start to win in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, over German Laura Siegemund with stars including former First Lady Michelle Obama, Gayle King, and Mike Tyson on the first day of the 2023 US Open. In the time slot previously reserved for tennis GOAT Serena Williams, Gauff was surprised by the play of her opponent, losing the first set. She discussed it after the match.
