Mendeecees Harris out of jail?
Did a “Love & Hip Hop” star who was rumored to be spending 15 years behind bars suddenly get an early release? That’s the question that’s being asked today about Mendeecees Harris after a rumor recently surfaced that he’d been released from prison.
Harris who is the fiancé of Yandy Smith, first ran into legal trouble when he was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. Shortly after being vindicated and acquitted of those charges, Harris was arrested for drug trafficking. Authorities stated that Harris and his two friends trafficked $2.5 million worth of drugs between 2005 and August 2012. A report then emerged that he would be spending 15 years behind bars.
Now suddenly, a rumor is swirling that Harris’ 15-year bid has been dropped and he’s back home in New York City. According to Uptown magazine who first dropped the “Harris is home” report, one of Mandeecees’ alleged co-conspirators pled guilty to narcotics conspiracy and money laundering charges. He was subsequently sentenced to a minimum 10 years of imprisonment, to be followed by 5 years of supervised release. As for Harris, Uptown reports that both the Bureau of Prisons and Harris’ attorney confirm that he is currently not in federal custody, but declined to give further comments. Furthermore Mendeecees is no longer listed on the Federal Bureau of Prison’s website.
Some have surmised that Harris cooperated with authorities and received a lesser sentence.
Neither Harris nor Yandy Smith have spoken on reports that he’s been released.
Smith recently vacationed in Abu Dhabi and is now enjoying events during New York Fashion Week.
