Lakessha Johnson's 2011 Death Caused by 1998 Gunshot Wound: Shooter Could Face Murder Charge

A medical examiner determined that a bullet wound from over a decade ago caused Lakessha Johnson’s recent death — and the man who already served two years in prison for accidentally shooting her could face new charges.

Johnson was a passenger in the front seat of a car in which the shooter, Ronnie Brown was seated in the rear. He told authorities he picked up a bag with the weapon in it and the gun accidentally went off, shooting Lakessha in the back.

The incident left the 34-year-old Seattle woman paralyzed, and she has since battled a host of ailments related to the shooting — including the amputation of her legs three years ago.

Brown was found guilty of charges related to the incident and served two years. He was incarcerated again in 2002 for a robbery conviction, and is still behind bars.

Prosecutors will meet with sheriff’s investigators to determine if new charges can be filed against Brown.

Johnson reportedly leaves behind four children.
