Little Richard
The rock ‘n’ roll legend was one of the genre’s first superstars, but during a tour of Australia with fellow early rockers Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent in 1957, he announced his retirement to pursue a life in the ministry. He enrolled at Oakwood College in Alabama to study theology and formed the Little Richard Evangelistic Team. He eventually resumed playing rock ‘n’ roll shows across Europe in the 1960s.
