The reality show “R&B Divas'” newest member LaTocha Scott is a familiar face for a reason. She was one of the lead singers for the Grammy-winning 90’s girls group Xscape. With her former band compatriots doing big things in recent years — Tameka “Tiny” Harris is hosting and doing reality shows. Kandi Burruss has created a multifaceted, multimillion-dollar empire. It seems fitting that Scott get back out in the spotlight after a long self-imposed moratorium.
But Scott admits there was initial trepidation about climbing back in front of the cameras. “At first I was apprehensive but then I thought about the fact that people — I’ve been gone for a long time — and people have been asking, “What’s going on with you? It’s the perfect platform for me to come back. It’s all about the music,” she told singersroom.com. Scott, who’s been married for 17 years, adds that you shouldn’t expect her clown in front of the cameras, aka “Basketball Wives” and “Love and Hip Hop”. “Well, you’re going to learn that I’m a mother. I do the same things that everybody else does. I’m on my grind in the studio all the time and just my relationship with [her husband/manager] Rocky.”
Scott joins another newcomer to “R&B Divas,” soul giant Angie Stone, along with the veterans Monifa Carter, Syleena Johnson, Faith Evans, Nicci Carter and Keke Wyatt for the new season that airs on TV One beginning May 1.
