A tribute to mothers: We hear her cry

On Mother’s Day, honor all those who have colleges named in their honor. Literary mothers like Alice Walker and Maya Angelou, what are they to do when they see so much despair in the eyes of children, they no longer gleam or dare to learn each day? But, they hear negative messages and see negative images of African Americans, what do we say?

Messages about sex are all over the radio, playing for mothers when they drive to work each day. It’s negative reinforcement that commercialized companies choose to play.

At the same time, “cool” products promoted on the radio endorse individuals who don’t say anything that will help a child excel on the SAT. We celebrate mothers and say our love is always to thee. But, our behavior on Twitter and in social media, each day, must begin to build a new identity for mothers who are under attack each and every day — from social injustice to inadequate pay.
