After spending much of the 80s and 90s in prison for cocaine trafficking, the youngest DeBarge brother re-emerged with what was one of the best R&B albums of the late 1990s. Released at a time when D’Angelo and Maxwell were returning classic soul to urban airwaves, Chico’s smoldering grooves were among the most understated and effective the genre had seen up to that point.
