A 12-year-old Connecticut girl has been arrested and charged in a case of what is being called “relentless bullying.”
The eighth grade victim and the accused bully’s names are all being withheld due to the sensitive nature of the the incident. However, Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn says the bullying became so intense at the school that the 13-year-old victim told her parents she was considering committing suicide.
Administrators at the private middle school, Trailblazers Academy, took initial action when the bullying began, however, as the problem intensified the parents of the 13-year-old victim felt the need to get the police involved.
“This behavior will not be tolerated,” Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin said, according to the station. “If it is brought to our attention, we will vigorously investigate the allegations and make arrests when appropriate. We investigate all claims of bullying, and this type of behavior will not be condoned in a learning environment.”
While many felt getting the police involved was the est thing the do, others are criticizing getting authorities involved because the girls are so young.
The girl was released into the custody of her parents. Police say the 12-year-old will have to go before a juvenile judge and will most likely have to attend anti-bullying classes.
