During testimony at the trial over the killing of  unarmed teen Jordan Davis, accused killer Michael Dunn’s words came back to haunt him. His fiancée, Rhonda Rouer, testified that she and Dunn had been drinking before the shooting. They went to a gas station for more alcohol when Dunn said to Rouer, “I hate that thug music.” The music was coming from the car of  17-year-old Davis, which was parked next to Dunn’s. Rouer testified she left the vehicle and went into the store, and then heard gunshots. Dunn had gunned down Davis, who was unarmed.

In Rouer’s emotional testimony, she said that Dunn ordered her into the car and they left the scene to return to their hotel. Dunn ordered pizza and continued to make and drink more rum and cokes, never calling the police. It was only when she saw the TV news reports on the teen’s murder that she wanted to go home, where Dunn was arrested. Dunn has pleaded self-defense for the murder because he thought he saw a gun and was scared. Police experts testified that there was no gun present in Davis’ car.
