“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson had the whole nation up in arms earlier this year after he made racist and homophobic comments in a high-profile GQ article. Although it looked like the controversy had finally died down, Robertson’s son, Willie, recently poured gasoline on the matter and reignited the controversy when he made homophobic comments of his own.
Willie and his wife, Korie, recently sat down for an interview with CNN and defended the elder Roberton’s comments that man should find a woman’s vagina more pleasing than a man’s anus, saying the Bible is the ultimate law.
“I believe what the Bible says,” Willie said. “That’s what he says to put those in. Now, you have to read the Bible and make up your own mind. You have to decide and God will ultimately decide that. We don’t profess to be God and we certainly don’t profess to be perfect at all because we have our own sins that we deal with.”
Korie chimed in and stated that, despite Robertson’s comments that gays will end up in hell, his message is about spreading God’s love.
“Anybody who knows him — any gay, straight, black, white — anybody who knows Phil knows that he is about love and his message is about God’s love, and God’s grace, and God’s forgiveness, ultimately,” Korie said.
Well, it’s definitely not surprising that Willie shares the same archaic thoughts on sexuality that his father has. And they’re not the only ones who have said offensive things about the gay community. Check out some other homophobic celebs after the cut. – nicholas robinson
