Procter & Gamble hosted a private dinner for My Black Is Beautiful at the Gem Saloon in New Orleans. The restaurant has its claim to fame because it is a juke joint where Louis Armstrong use to play. The WE TV stars, The Braxton sisters sat and dined with us as we heard about the strides that #MBIB is making in the community by P&G brand manager, Grace Janes. They chose six young beautiful ambassadors to share ‘why their black is beautiful.’

We were fortunate to hear R&B Singer Mali Music perform “Beautiful” off of his latest project “Mali Is…” and we received a copy of his CD and a notebook engraved with ‘My Black is Beautiful’ on the outside.

Crystal Harrell told us, “Essence is the best place for My Black is Beautiful because they can come and discuss ‘black beauty’, celebrate the empowerment of women, self confidence and self esteem.”

Lastly, Award-winning author and motivational speaker Lisa Nichols explained to us why her involvement with MBIB is so important and charged us to not dim our light just to make others feel more comfortable. Check out more photos in the gallery. –joi pearson @joiapearson
