Chicago’s CineSpace Film Studios recently played host to the Global Mixx Film Forum as presented by Power Parent Chicago and the Global Mixx Media Group.
The one day forum featured panel discussions on important topics such as the advantages of new media and online content versus traditional television, tips and tools for aspiring actors, and a frank discussion on the ins and outs of independently getting a film made. Moderators Troy Pryor and Monique Spence kept things moving as panelists shared their experiences and fielded questions from the audience.
Panelists included actress Erica Hubbard (“Let’s Stay Together,” “Lincoln Heights”), actor Mel Jackson (Soul Food, “Living Single”), executive producer Carlos King (“Hollywood Divas,” “Real Housewives of Atlanta”), director Christopher Nolen (72 Hours, The Good Life), and writer and comedian Robin Thede (“The Queen Latifah Show,” “Real Husbands of Hollywood”).
As an added bonus, attendees were also treated to a intimate Q&A discussion between Art “Chat Daddy” Simms (“Real Talk, Real People with Chat Daddy”) and acting coach Jemal McNeil (Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis).
The film forum, produced by David Leonard, was a part of the Global Mixx Music and Film Forum created by industry veteran Mary Datcher as a means of making those with the knowledge of the inner workings of the music and film business accessible to those aspiring to become a part of the industry. The annual event frequently draws professionals from across the country.
