Kat Dahlia’s ‘My Garden’ tour hits Chicago’s Portage House Theater

Last week Vested In Culture/Epic Records artist Kat Dahlia brought her “My Garden” tour to Chicago’s Portage Theater.

Hosted by personalities Nook and Will Worley, the soundtrack for the evening was provided by DJ Fanatic, DJ Skidmark and DJ Caleeb. In addition to Dahlia, the show also featured performances from Chicago natives ASA ASA, NoName Gypsy, The O’My’s, and Canadian singer-songwriter Craig Strickland.

When it was Kat’s turn to the take the stage the Miami native didn’t disappoint. Effortlessly running through favorites from her mixtape, Seeds, and also giving the audience a taste of new music from her forthcoming debut album, My Garden.

Dahlia’s fusion of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop mixed with personal, yet razor sharp lyrics has taken the industry by storm. After waiting tables until she saved up enough money to pay for her studio time, Dahlia wrote her first hit single “Gangsta” and was signed to Epic Records by industry veteran Sylvia Rhone in 2010.

“Sylvia Rhone is so heavy in this music game,” says Dahlia. “To have someone of her stature believe in you and really really rock with you … it means a lot.”

Her newly released single “Crazy” has topped every major top 40 radio market and continues to climb the charts. My Garden is set to be released  Jan. 13 and will feature production by award-winning producers Timbaland and Missy Elliott.
