Selma celebrated its New York premiere at the Ziegfeld Theater, where stars David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey (also a producer on the film), Carmen Ejogo, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Roth, Common and Cuba Gooding Jr., walked the red carpet alongside director-executive producer Ava Duvernay.
Other celebrities in attendance were Aretha Franklin, Tyler Perry, Tia Mowry, Andre Holland, Lorraine Toussaint, Niecy Nash, Wendell Pierce, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and John Lavelle.
Selma, from Paramount Pictures, Pathé, and Harpo Films, is in selected theaters on Dec. 25, 2014, and opens nationwide on Jan. 9, 2015.
