A high school principal in Florida was arrested May 6 after authorities found her partially clothed in a car with marijuana and a young man that turned out to be one of her students.
According to reports, officers responded to a caller who spotted the vehicle in the deserted parking lot with “people in the back seat engaged in some sort of sexual activity or being attacked.”
When an officer approached the vehicle, 45-year-old Krista Morton opened the door and immediately said to the officer, “We’re just friends.”
Morton, whose shirt was unbuttoned exposing her shoulder and part of her breast, then told the officer she didn’t know the man she was in the car with.
“She continued to tell me that she had just met him, that she was lonely, she had just picked him up down the street and brought him here to get to know him,” the officer said.
The 18-year-old man later admitted to authorities that Morton was his principal.
After smelling marijuana, the officer performed a search of the vehicle and found both marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Morton allegedly refused to admit smoking marijuana “but did tell the police that marijuana had been smoked.” Both Morton and the young man were arrested and charged with marijuana possession.
School officials have since suspended Morton from her role as principal with Mavericks in Education, a chain of for-profit charter schools founded by Frank Biden, the brother of Vice President Joe Biden.
