She may have had her Grand Slam dream dashed, but that didn’t keep tennis champ Serena Williams from pursuing another passion… fashion. Days following her US Open upset, Williams presented her “Signature” collection at New York Fashion Week, with supporters Vogue editor and mentor Anna Wintour and rumored boyfriend Drake sitting front row.
The line created for the Home Shopping Network where Williams regularly hawks her products, consisted of ready-to-wear basics in a neutral pallet. And while the name Williams may not come to mind when thinking of today’s fashionista’s, she’s got some big names behind her. “Anna’s [Wintour] really been my mentor,” Williams said prior to the show. “She’s gone over this whole collection.”
In fact, the tennis star has tried her hand in a few fashion courses in the past, in her downtime to keep busy. Williams’ presentation on Tues., Sept. 15 makes this her second fashion show at New York Fashion Week in two years. Check out images from the catwalk below. And tell us… do you love it?
