Queen Bey buzzed into Chicago recently and the Beyhive filled Soldier Field for all to see an amazing set. It is no secret how great of an artist Beyoncé is. As great as she is, Beyoncé has a host of people who help to create the business that is Bey.
The Mamas, Beyoncé’s backup vocalists, deliver soul-filled harmonies that help to paint the picture. The day before the show at Soldier Field, Crissy Collins and Tiffany Monique, two thirds of The Mamas, decided to kick it in Chicago and had an event at Society 2201, brought to you by Anita B on The B side and Twoguard Media Group.
As they entered the venue, they were greeted by an excited crowd who were anticipating their arrival. Once settled in VIP, Crissy toured the venue, dancing with fans, taking pictures and enjoying the day off before the show. The highlight of the evening is when Crissy decided to sing something for the audience. She did a few covers and asked for a request. The overwhelming response was that she perform “Say Yes” by Floetry. She asked for crowd participation and she got it. As she riffed, her impromptu backup vocalist stayed in harmony and brought the house down. Crissy was so impressed after the performance she asked to meet the singers backing her up and made sure she connected with them. It was an amazing moment and if you were there to witness it your are extremely fortunate. The emotion filled the room.
This was one of those moments when you had to be there. Crissy is a premier vocalist and actress and when I tell you this woman can sang … all I can say is wow. Chicago represented with impromptu background for her. As someone who has never been quick to go see Beyoncé, knowing that her background vocalists are this awesome is worth the price of the ticket.
