It came as quite the shock last week when it was revealed that T.I. and Tiny’s daughter Zonnique was arrested at an Atlanta airport for carrying a handgun in her bag. Since then, fans have been wondering why the young rising star had the weapon. Now, news reports are revealing more details on what happened before Zonnique’s arrest.

As previously reported, the incident happened last Thursday, June 16, when Tip and Tiny’s oldest daughter was at Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta and TSA found the semi-automatic handgun in her purse. Zonnique was charged at 1:28 a.m. and transported to Clayton County Jail. However, she was released at 2:09 a.m.

According to media reports, Zonnique had the gun because the young star felt unsafe after an incident with a fan. Sources say that a fan grabbed Zonnique at a recent party and that she had been receiving threats on social media.

The sources say that her parents agreed that she should get a handgun for protection and so Tiny went with Zonnique to buy the .38 calibur pistol.

The sources say that Zonnique didn’t intend to bring the gun with her into the airport. Instead, they say that she put the gun inside one of her purses beforehand and mistakenly grabbed the wrong bag before rushing off to the airport.

Although Zonnique had the proper documents to carry the gun, sources say that Zonnique’s mother was holding them for her. However, even though Zonnique was legally able to carry the gun, it’s not legal for a person to bring a handgun into an airport without the proper documents.

Sources say that T.I. picked Zonnique up after her arrest and that he’s already hired a lawyer for her. Well, we hope this case gets settled quickly. What do you think of it? Let us know in the comments.
