El Debarge visited the City Winery in Chicago. He gave and was showered with love. The night was magical as El ran through the list of hits that span over three decades. R&B sensation Marwan opened the first show. Comedian Damon Williams opened the second show and had people rolling over with laughter. Two Guard Media and Anita on the B Side came together, created and helped to bring an experience that will not soon be forgotten.

El rocked two shows and his energy was on point for both of them. He is still able to hit those high falsetto notes with ease; even when he decided to take a pause, the crowd chimed in as his default backup singers. El understands his relevance and before two of his biggest hits, he paid homage to both Tupac and Biggie by playing their verses from songs they made famous by sampling his music. The most magical part of the evening was listening to the crowd sing “Love Me In A Special Way”; that prompted El to return to the stage for his encore. Real music was in the building and it was embraced and appreciated.

We asked Kristina Louis, who traveled from Detroit to see the show and says she is El’s number one fan, what she thought of the show. “This show was amazing. El had me reminiscing, tearing up, dancing and wanting more new music from this legend. My favorite part was of course when he serenaded me at the stage. But at the end of El’s set when he left the stage, the crowd began to singing, “Love me in a Special Way,” then El felt the love from the audience. He returned to the stage to perform one more song. I adore this talented artist and I have mad love and respect for him and his management team,” she said.
