Dr. John Eaves (Morehouse College Class of 1984)
Dr. John H. Eaves is the chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, and like Dr. King, a graduate of Morehouse College. Eaves is well-known and has been influential in the halls of Atlanta and Georgia politics. He announced this week that he will enter the mayoral race, stating to media, “I felt the city needed someone of my caliber. The city of Atlanta deserves transparency, and I want to set the tone.”
Eaves has been prolific in tackling issues in Atlanta and the South Fulton area of the city. He has been heavily involved in the bid for the South Fulton section of Atlanta ceding from the city of Atlanta and forming a new predominantly Black municipality.
