Now that Tamar Braxton is filing for divorce and vows never to return to estranged husband Vincent Herbert, the matriarch of the Braxton bunch, Evelyn Braxton, is taking this time to double down on the domestic violence claims.

Evelyn Braxton is adamant that the mild mannered-looking Herbert was beating her daughter Tamar violently for years before she finally escaped from that marital purgatory. As TMZ first reported a few weeks ago, the mother shocked the nation when she admitted to a reporter inside the Los Angeles International Airport that Herbert was beating her daughter on the regular and warned him “to keep his hand off her child before he kills her.”

Word is that Tamar went volcanic when she found out that her mother let the secret out of the bag and refused to film with her mother. But that only served to embolden Evelyn to spill the beans on the Tamar-Vincent union even more.

The Braxton matriarch told the Grio that the couple’s been trying to hide the alleged abuse for years but she finally has the “audacity to tell the truth.”

When Evelyn confronted Herbert about the abuse, she says Herbert dismissed the conversation by saying Tamar’s “mouth” was to blame.

“It’s always ‘it’s Tamar’s mouth’…it’s always someone else. That does not give you the right to abuse her. Everybody has a mouth. Everyone should have the right to say what they want. Are you trying to beat [her] into submissiveness? No one has the right,” she said.

Evelyn says Tamar’s sisters tried to intervene on a regular basis.

Her sisters have been trying to fight Vince for a long time but it was always denied,” she said.

Tamar Braxton added to the intrigue when she stated this on her Instagram page: This season of #TamarandVince is going to be hard for me. But I think it’s so important for you you all to see because I used to think marriage was easy and “i got this”… but like my mom says ‘sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you’! Now we know that the alleged fight at the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta was real.

Evelyn confirmed the validity of the story. She says she and Tamar have reconciled and are “talking and hugging.”

I think too many women are abused, and it’s high time that we stand up and stop this madness,” she told the Grio. “Do you know how many women are killed each year? I just don’t want Tamar to be a part of that.

If anything happens to Tamar, that’s Logan’s (Tamar and Vince’s son) loss. That’s my loss. That’s her family’s loss. I don’t want that kind of pain,” she added. “Enough is enough. I don’t care how much they smile. I don’t care how much they pretend.”
